What type of toothbrush do you use? Is it manual or electric? Did you know that one has more benefits than the other? I've used a manual brush most of my life. Dentists have always told me that electric is better (& you see the commercials), but I've always stuck to the free brush I received after my cleaning. Why would I pay for an electric toothbrush when I get a free one twice a year? Well, here's why...
1. Electric toothbrushes have timers - did you know that you're supposed to brush your teeth for two minutes? You divide your mouth into fours and do each section for 30 seconds. With an electric brush, the vibrations pause after 30 seconds to let you know that it's time to switch sections. After two minutes, the brush stops. This is when you know you've completed the perfect brushing.
2. They're more effective at removing plaque - You're still brushing like normal, but there are extra vibrations and movements coming from the brush head that get deeper into your gum lines.
3. They're a lifesaver for people with disabilities - If you have arthritis or carpal tunnel, it can be painful to move your wrist around. With an electric toothbrush, the brush does most of the work for you, so you only need to move it between sections. No more forceful brushing that creates a strain on your wrist.
4. They're fun to use - Some brushes have different settings (like mine), so you can play around with the different vibrations and see what works for you. Mine has five settings, which can easily be changed with the push of a button.
For the past month, I've been using the cariPRO Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush from Smile Brilliant. I've tried electric toothbrushes in the past (mainly OralB) and didn't like them at all. They didn't seem to give me that clean feeling I always achieved from using my manual. Plus, if I applied too much pressure, the brush would stop and blink red. I was getting so frustrated with it that I sold the brush and went back to manual brushing.
When Smile Brilliant reached out to me and asked if I'd like to try their electric toothbrush, I was skeptical. "Oh no, it's going to be another annoying "smart brush" that yells at me every time I brush my teeth." I was so wrong! I absolutely LOVE this brush! Not only are the colors perfect, but I can still apply my desired pressure without the brush stopping. Plus, there's a tongue scrubber on the back of the brush head (Yay!). There are five settings - Clean, Sensitive, White, Massage, and Gum Care. My favorites are sensitive and clean because it's the perfect amount of vibration. Massage is the strongest, but that's a bit too powerful for me! This brush is also waterproof, so you don't have to worry about getting it wet. However, I would still recommend drying it off after each use to help prolong the lifespan of your brush.
Not only do I love all of the brush's features, but I love that it leaves me with that fresh, clean feeling! After brushing, I never feel like I missed a spot or my mouth is still dirty. With my manual, I felt like my brushing only lasted 5 minutes and my mouth was immediately dirty again. I was always reaching for mints because it made me so self-conscious! With the cariPRO, my mouth has that clean feeling for at least an hour! I'm not grabbing my mints as much and I feel like my smile shines brighter. I honestly never thought I would love an electric toothbrush again, but this one is absolutely amazing.
